Many African and Middle Eastern networks distribute at 11 kV or 33 kV. The primary voltage is set by the utility line at your site, not by choice, but it changes the equipment and the price.
A 33 kV unit needs more insulation distance, larger bushings and usually a bigger tank. At the same kVA, a 33 kV transformer is heavier and typically 20–40% more expensive than an 11 kV one.
11 kV systems use 12 kV-class switchgear and ring main units, which are widely available. 33 kV systems need 36 or 40.5 kV-class switchgear, which is larger and costs much more. For a compact substation, the 33 kV version often costs significantly more than the 11 kV one because of the switchgear.
China's own distribution voltages are 10 kV and 35 kV. Chinese factories build 11 kV and 33 kV units routinely for export, but make sure the data sheet states 11 kV or 33 kV and the correct test voltages, not 10 or 35 kV.
